Volunteer Information
Volunteers
are essential to the Pequot Lakes Community Library; there wouldn't
be a library without the help of community members.
Each day that the library is open, two volunteers work together to open the library, check materials in and out, shelve materials, and generally run the place. Shifts are generally 4 hours in length and, while some volunteers work twice a month, we have found that a once-a-week commitment is best.
Job Requirements
Being
pleasant, enjoying people and books, and being able to alphabetize are
the crucial requirements of the job. Using the computer involves clicking
some icons and X's and, once in a while, following instructions in our
"here's what you do manual." But, remember, there are always
two of you - so there's no need to panic.
Scheduling
The last full week of each month, the work schedule is passed out for the coming month, so everyone knows what's going on. If you need to reschedule, there is a substitute list available for you to call; we find that our volunteers are more than willing to switch or take additional shifts. They're a great group!
